Is an international contemporary art project produced specifically for this 2nd Biennial of the Canary Islands, incorporating contributions from eight international, Spanish and Canarian artists which have been conceived from an open, metaphorical and critical perspective on the coexistence of contemporary human beings with their environment and their natural and urban habitat — contributions and proposals designed using a broad concept of landscape as a space for action on the part of Humanity, and one that is constantly changing. Thus, multidirectional landscapes, such as economic, social, historical, political and anthropological landscapes, coexist in this project on an equal footing, from an artistic perspective using diverse kinds of language and questioning and reconsidering contemporary modes of representation.

Coexistencias is an open space for dialogue between different artistic ideas and a meeting place for these eight artists, who from their different personal and cultural contexts will live and work together as a group for just over a week: artists of the world, fluctuating between local and global experience, constructors of identities of multiple architectures and landscapes.

Maltese, Puerto Rican, German, Algerian, Canarian, Cantabrian, Canarian and Egyptian, in perpetual motion, turning diaspora and homecoming into an inescapable space for knowledge.

A project which reproduces on its own scale the landscape and territory that are a perpetual laboratory in our Canary Islands, as a meeting space in the Atlantic.

A space of desire which sets the construction of a possible landscape of coexistence as its indispensable horizon.

Coexistences is therefore an invitation to the viewer to explore and participate in these artistic experiments with multiple resonances, which are constructed and reconstructed by the aesthetic, intellectual and critical gaze of each viewer.
